high mobility weapons unit sets off from an unknown location on earth, making its maiden voyage beyond our solar system and towards a distant galaxy. the transverse velocity ep is the debut release on the self-titled imprint, serving up four original tracks that are heavily influenced by mechanical cycles and deep space concepts. the a-side kicks off with the eps title track transverse velocity, where an array of eroded satellite bleeps and waves loop together as the analogue low-end pulsates rhythmically below. in wave 102 the bleeps are detuned and erratically timed, with a glitchy tape delay unit modulating them throughout the track. the saturated 808 kick drum and processed percussion are given a functional structure, allowing the bleeps to take centre stage. on the b-side, both cycle 01 and astronomy tool serve as stripped-back percussive dj tools. cycle 01 rolls along with its hollow, muted polyrhythmic stab line, whilst astronomy tool drives forward with an effective, crystalline synth hit. mastered by black monolith studios.

blue mondays is a project of alex ferrazzi and keemani. both vinyl collectors and involved within the italian underground scene from the beginning of the early 2000s, they grew up cultivating different backgrounds, alex was always into disco and old school house music while keemani was more into new wave and rock vibes. merging their backgrounds inside the studio, they come to you with a dance floor oriented sound spanning nu disco to techno, based on dope beats, smoked out samples, deep basslines, and uplifting vibes.

as earlier compilations of danza meccanica have taught us, italy gave birth to a disproportionate number of synth-pop, new wave and electronic acts in the 80s. mannequin goes deeper into the italian new wave archelogical research with a killer 10 tracks selection of carmody. picking their name from a science fiction novel titled dimension of miracles by robert sheckley, carmody were coming from torino, as their pairs monuments and chromagain. started as a duo (alberto ramella and andrea lesmo) and later a trio with max casacci joining in as a guitar player, carmody recorded from 1981 to 1985 and issued three incredibly rare demo tapes. sleep on mirrors compiles the best tracks from those tapes, bringing you one of the most peculiar 80s minimal synth music coming out of italy

last year s disco (a fine selection of independent disco, modern soul & boogie 1978-82) compilation from soul jazz offered undeniable proof that few diggers deserve their reputation as much as dutch discotheque scholar disco patrick. given the reception, it s no surprise to see that the london label have commissioned patrick to undertake a second assessment of the genre s lesser known gems with the focus here on the years 1976-80. the first of two double lp vinyl samplers to accompany the full cd release finds pat pulling out gems like the extremely pricey skip jackson curio micro wave boogie and t.k. disco treat cosmic funk by mad dog fire department.

founded in september 1981 in orléans, and originally dedicated to a kind of �modern punk rock�, d.stop released a first 7�� the following year. this impossible-to-find debut release is now reissued on vinyl for the first time. the three tracks of the original 7�� are augmented with 4 tracks that are released on vinyl for the first time ever on this very nice translucent vinyl 10�� plus download code. after this first 7�, sonny brailleur (vocals) + phil lethon (guitar/bass) + klod lelook (organ, synths, drum-machines) , inspired by french band metal urbain, stylistically transformed into a more �synth punk� kind of outfit and released their first mini-album nouvelles du front in september 1983 that has been reissued by desire on vinyl last september. one year after, the band already ceased to exist � or actually changed the name to les visiteurs du soir � to turn back to the old name in 1985 by releasing a limited cassette. despite the very few releases by this gifted act, d.stop are considered to be one of the most interesting and under-rated cult acts in french cold wave.

the fourth release from palms & charms sees the return of label co-owner barnaby bruce, ruminating on the perils of fine fabric care. we ve all been there � a lengthy session on the dancefloor playing havoc with the pile of your velvet coat. faced with this dilemma, barnaby reaches for the battered volume, passed down through untold generations of his family, detailing archaic yet uncannily effective methods for extending the life of even the most exquisite textiles. as he does so, the percussive jazz-tinged boogie of sweat on velvet takes over his mind, unleashing a wave of dancefloor euphoria. not to be outdone, pete herbert (reverso 68), unveils his own masterful fabric care techniques, providing a remix that will starch your collar and shake out the creases. not the same clothes, but something brand new. freshly attired, barnaby begins to notice curious and somewhat unsettling noises coming from the next room. he gingerly opens the door, and is confronted with a seance in full swing. strangers sitting around his dining table wait with baited breath for word from the other side. but the unearthly howling of tortured spirits is quickly silenced by the devilish groove of seance fiction. as the arp makes its entrance, every soul is up and dancing. finally, barnaby bruce also provides the eminently useful go go percussion dub of sweat on velvet � rounding out a sartorially elegant ep with something for everyone, from sceptics to lost souls.

the first release from the new malka tuti record label introduces us to xen, a multi talented multi cultural singer, artist and designer from tel aviv. for her debut ep she went into the studio with the red axes lads to produce 2 original tracks for the a side as well as 2 different versions on the b side. after already collaborating with them on their track -this is it- for a correspondant records compliation on 2014, this time she takes a step forward and really brings out her post-cold-wave-some-wave attitude and delivers 2 psychedelic poppy tracks, highly influenced by german krautrock as well as british and french post-punk and israeli late 80s new-wave. on the b-side you can find a massive dancefloor remix from the red axes themselves as well as a secret psychedelic voodoo b-side.

we left herva & dukwa with a bunch of bangers with their latest ep -it fell down-� we found em back only after few months with their first lifes track longer player featuring an impressive variety of styles but always with their unmissable, raw and twisted up touch. this album of 8 tracks, spread in one twelve and a seven inches, starts on a side with the funky break of -needed-, continuing with the deep driving moment of -amore- and the hip hop beat of -put it on-. on the flip side instead we find the catchy vocal riff of the stomping roller called -freak with us- followed by the soulful ghetto tech vibe of �call it you� and the melancholic, romantic, stoned and rotten lullaby of -tired brass-. more tasty and unusual grooves are included in the tiny wax which close the record up, on a side the peaceful, abstract, suspended and atmospheric dimensions of * play with me* and on the other the glow-fi-sh and -emo--tech wave of -venere-. unmissible!

acid, no wave and experimental house producer drvg cvltvre has been busy recently. after releasing with chris moss acid on shipwrec in 2014, vincent koreman then served up a full ep of his own, on dutch label cos_mos and is now back once again with a new four track affair on pinkman that comes two years after he offered up the label�s first ep in 2013. up first, * my houz* is a swampy house track with heavy drums, whirring machines and white noise textures all adding up to an intense affair that sounds like little else. then comes * tyranny of the gods* , a slow tempo but high impact track that builds and builds on a nerve lead synth line as frazzled bass props things up from below. dark and weird, occult and rave, its another unique proposition. on the flip, * sleepdealer* is an unbalanced house track with taught, tight bass and is shot through with laser like synths. serene and spaced out, it makes way for closer * crack spirit guide* which is a noisy, intense and brooding fusion of crisp percussion, big walls of synth and chattering drums that really have you on edge. once agin, then, drvg cvltvre has come up with the idiosyncratic goods.

electronic emergencies is proud to introduce ceci n est pas, a synth wave project from new york consisting of nico nightingale, pierre klein and jorge socarras. nico nightingale is the man behind neud photo and earlier worked with pierre klein as neud. jorge socarras was singer with synth maestro patrick cowley in the 70s duo catholic, and with 80s cult band indoor life. together, they started ceci n est pas in 2014, and this 7 inch -the last time- is their first release. the title track on the a-side is an irrestisibly melancholic and romantic synth wave pop song, while b-side -the stranger- has a mysterious and yearning feel.

van kaye + ignit is the dutch duo of ed van kasteren (van kaye) and ignatine bekken(ignit), who joined forces in the city of arnhem during early 1980. while at university, van kaye was the singer of the monomen, a local new wave band. by the end of 1979 he had become more interested in the use of electronics and rhythmic industrial patterns. in april 1980 he released a demo cassette with 30 minutes of his own work titled a slight delay.

back at it again, taking the true essence of the �jacking� sound of chicago house and putting it�s own stamp on it is what obsolete music technology has done with their new 12&#8243,, entitled, �volatile.� warbling, wobbling, distorting, sinisterly acidic basslines abound is the best way to describe this release! for dance floors only! you have been warned! �volatile� starts off with some 707 drums intro and then fading in, is this tripped out, bubbling bass sound that sends you off a cliff! just when you think that�s all to the track, dark, melancholic pads comes in for added atmos-fear! rounding out the a-side is �killin,� with it�s 2 acid style basslines, one sounding at a high octave and the other at a lower octave. riffs playing separately sounding great, but when played together, there is something slightly, mentally off. on the b-side, �broken siren� is high energy! 808 tom drums bringing the funky low end while a short, electronic piano lick drenched in warm, fuzzy, flange effect. setting it off is a decayed sine wave, mimicking an actual alarm sound. lastly, �electric current� best describe this distorted acid bassline and its tweaking filter and resonance controls over jacking 808 drums

electronic music approximately 35 years after bands like kraftwerk opened the magic box. a lot happened since then and it seems all is said, done and invented. however it is almost surprising that new things still pop up here and there when it comes to electronic music production.
